Firewood delivered and stacked

The recent crisis in the energy market has resulted in hardwood logs no longer becoming
available from UK sources at realistic prices. Imported logs, when they are available, are of
variable quality and their production and transportation cannot be guaranteed to conform to our
exacting requirements regarding ethical sourcing. Consequently, for the coming season, we will only be offering kiln dried softwood logs for sale. These logs are produced in the UK to the highest standards. They burn slightly faster than hardwood logs, however, they are of the finest quality and their production process conforms to the highest standards.

Order your sustainable, kiln-dried firewood today and take advantage of our free delivery within a 15-mile radius of our headquarters in Medmenham, Bucks; we’ll even expertly stack your logs for free.

Due to the demand at the moment our current lead time for delivery is approx 10 days from date of order.

Frequently asked Questions

Our logs are softwood mainly from Larch. Most are split logs 3 to 5 inches wide and between 8 and 10 inches long.

Hardwood comes from trees that lose their leaves in the winter, such as Oak, Ash and Beech. They are slow growing and therefore provide a dense timber meaning that they burn longer and hotter. Softwood such as pine, grows much faster and the timber is less dense.

Kiln-dried as the name suggests, are logs that have been dried using a kiln.

Our logs are delivered in bags and the driver will stack them in your log store, shed or garage. Any mess will be cleaned and taken away by our friendly staff. We will arrange a convenient day and time slot with you prior to delivery.

We offer free delivery within a 15-mile radius of our yard in Medmenham, Buckinghamshire. Please contact us to discuss delivery if you require the logs to be delivered further than 15 miles.

The lower the moisture content of a log, the less it weighs and the better it burns. We make sure our kiln-dried logs have a low moisture content and consistently burn well. Therefore, they weigh a lot less than the same volume of unseasoned logs. If you buy by the weight, you will be paying for water rather than wood.

If you stack loose logs tightly and neatly, the pile of stacked logs takes up less space than the loose pile. Independent industry experts such as The Forestry Commission, The European Biomass Association and Woodfuel Wales state that one cubic metre of loose logs, when stacked, will take up a volume of approximately 60% to 70% of a cubic metre.

No. Builder’s bags are designed to hold a ton of building material such as sand or gravel. The bags we use hold about 0.9 cubic metres of logs which, being less dense than sand or gravel, will weigh considerably less than a ton.

In short no, this is false. Silver Birch is a fantastic burning wood. It produces an intense heat, but burns quickly. This is why we always recommend that you burn a mix of woods to optimise each characteristic and get the best results.
